Desert Mountain took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 13-8 victory over Chaparral. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wolves as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Parker Shields looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Desert Mountain got a massive performance out of Everett Hagen, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave Hagen a new career-high. Boden Raines was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run.
Desert Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Willow Canyon faced off against Kellis on Wednesday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 10-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won eight in a row.
Christian Trevino looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Malachi Lemau, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Willow Canyon's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 6-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Cameron Davidson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
The victory got Willow Canyon back to even at 10-10. As for Desert Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Desert Mountain hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
