Mellen hadn't done well against Washburn recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Mellen Granite Diggers put the hurt on the Washburn Castle Guards with a sharp 68-48 win. The Granite Diggers' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Mellen's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Washburn, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.
