Elsberry and the Thunderbirds are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The Elsberry Indians will head out on the road to face off against the North Callaway Thunderbirds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Elsberry will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Last Tuesday, Elsberry humbled the Tigers with a 70-22 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Elsberry has managed all season.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led North Callaway over the Falcons in every quarter on their way to victory on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that North Callaway blew the Falcons out of the water with a 59-29 final score. North Callaway pushed the score to 48-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Falcons had little chance of recovering from.
Sam Pezold continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with six rebounds and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Levi Drake, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Elsberry has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. As for North Callaway, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-14.
Elsberry was able to grind out a solid win over the Thunderbirds in their previous meeting on Saturday, winning 49-40. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was North Callaway's Isiah Craighead, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
