The Sierra Lutheran Falcons fell victim to the Loyalton Grizzlies''s stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Grizzlies 46-0. Sierra Lutheran lost against Loyalton in their previous head to head back in September of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-26 score last time.
Loyalton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adam Smeltzer, who rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, and also picked up 31 receiving yards. Smeltzer's longest rush was for an incredible 95 yards. Case Emsoff was another key contributor, rushing for 130 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Sierra Lutheran has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Loyalton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.
Sierra Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Loyalton will head out on the road to face off against Hayfork at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
