Carl Junction has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Carthage Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Carl Junction has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 268 points over their last four games.
Carl Junction pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Willard. Carl Junction has not had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite the loss, Carl Junction saw an underclassman step up: Brody Pant scored 26 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That was a full 44.1% of Carl Junction's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Deacon Endicott, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Even though Carthage has not done well against the Tigers recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Carthage strolled past the Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 60-41. The victory was just what Carthage needed coming off of a 79-50 loss in their prior contest.
Carl Junction's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Carthage, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Carl Junction was taken down by the Tigers 82-52 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Carl Junction avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
