Basketball Recap: Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Takes a Loss

Sumner-Eddyville-Miller lost against Ansley/Litchfield back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs received a blow as they fell 53-36 to the Ansley/Litchfield Spartans. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Spartans 12-8 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Sumner-Eddyville-Miller still got an impressive performance from Cohen Rohde, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Rohde a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Beattie, who posted eight points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ansley/Litchfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luke Bailey, who had 13 points along with eight boards and seven assists. Bailey has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Owen Cunningham was another key player, putting up ten points and five steals.

Sumner-Eddyville-Miller's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Ansley/Litchfield, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Sumner-Eddyville-Miller wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 44-42 loss against Amherst on the 30th. As for Ansley/Litchfield, they will take on Pleasanton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
