Softball Recap: Paulding Wins Going Away Against Spencerville

It was a proper cat-fight when Paulding took on Spencerville on Thursday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Bearcats. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Tia Mendez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Mendez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Brooklynn Bakle was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Mariah Klopfenstein was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Paulding was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. They are 6-3 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Paulding's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-10. As for Spencerville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-17.

Paulding does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Spencerville, they will challenge Perry at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
