Mt. Eden has been on the road for three straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Hayward Farmers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Mt. Eden suffered their biggest defeat since December 16, 2023 on Saturday. Their rough 61-39 defeat to Ukiah might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Mt. Eden can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 598th, while Ukiah is ranked 189th).
Meanwhile, Hayward had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against Arroyo by a score of 57-44.
Hayward got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Quincy Lavender out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 25 rebounds. Lavender hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Jayden Doss, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Mt. Eden's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-12. As for Hayward, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season.
Mt. Eden was able to grind out a solid win over Hayward when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 55-47. Will Mt. Eden repeat their success, or does Hayward have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
