The Bishop Canevin Crusaders pushed their score all the way to 70 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 78-70 to Highlands. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Saturday (58), Bishop Canevin still had to take the loss.
Bishop Canevin lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jason Cross Jr, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. Michael Vaughn was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Bishop Canevin and nudges their season record down to 7-7. As for Highlands, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Bishop Canevin's road trip will continue as they head out to face Nazareth Prep at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. As for Highlands, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Hampton at 7:30 p.m. Hampton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Highlands in Pennsylvania (Hampton is ranked 45th, while Highlands is ranked 163rd).
