The Niceville Eagles will square off against the Navarre Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Niceville sitting on five straight victories and Navarre on six.
Niceville gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Choctawhatchee 11-1.
Brenna Cooke was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those RBI were her first of the season. Molly Mayfield was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Niceville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Navarre and West Florida, and Navarre kept the tradition alive. The Raiders came out on top against the Jaguars by a score of 6-2 on Friday.
Kayden Riddle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Renee Hester, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nadia Rivera, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Navarre's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Niceville, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Niceville hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Navarre struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Niceville was able to grind out a solid win over Navarre in their previous matchup back in March, winning 5-0. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
