Summers County hasn't had much luck against James Monroe recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bobcats will square off against the Mavericks at 5:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Colten Jones made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Summers County is 7-1 when Jones posts two or more runs, but 4-16-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, Summers County let Ryan Oliveros and Robey Brown run wild. Oliveros went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run, while Brown got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Oliveros a new career-high. Cody Snavely was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, James Monroe entered their tilt with Summit Christian Academy on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Falcons. The Mavericks not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 21-4).
The team relied heavily on Cameron Crislip, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs. Clark Adkins also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Summers County's record now sits at 11-17-1. As for James Monroe, their record is now 15-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Summers County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like James Monroe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Summers County suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to James Monroe when the teams last played back in March. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
