The Carvers Bay Bears suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. Their rough 67-41 loss to St. James might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Carvers Bay can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while St. James is ranked 20th).
Despite the defeat, Carvers Bay saw an underclassman step up: Jaquan Hannah scored six points along with five rebounds.
Carvers Bay's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8. As for St. James, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carvers Bay will take on Scott's Branch at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Scott's Branch is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for St. James, St. James and Sumter will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
