Football Game Preview: New Smyrna Beach Barracudas vs. DeLand Bulldogs

New Smyrna Beach is a perfect 7-0 against DeLand since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The New Smyrna Beach Barracudas will be playing in front of their home fans against the DeLand Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (New Smyrna Beach: 1.5, DeLand: 8.8) so any points scored will be well earned.

DeLand will be up against a hot New Smyrna Beach team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. New Smyrna Beach breezed past Lake Mary to the tune of 40-0 on Friday. That looming 40-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Barracudas yet this season.

Emma Corr was her usual excellent self, rushing for 84 yards and one touchdown on only five carries, while also throwing for 138 yards and two touchdowns while completing 81.3% of her passes. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in passer rating (145.3). Taylor Vance was Corr's top target, picking up 54 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

New Smyrna Beach didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Addison LArson led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by herself. Corr got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, DeLand was able to grind out a solid win over Taylor on Monday, taking the game 19-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

New Smyrna Beach pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.7 points. As for DeLand, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

New Smyrna Beach was able to grind out a solid win over DeLand when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 13-0. Will New Smyrna Beach repeat their success, or does DeLand have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
