Even though the Claremore Zebras have not done well against the Collinsville Cardinals recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Claremore came out on top against Collinsville by a score of 21-14. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Claremore was the (much) better team in the second half.
Claremore was led to victory by Tyson Grimett and Braxton Etheridge. Grimett rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown, while Etheridge rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns.
Collinsville's loss came despite strong showings from Scott Rigby and Hudson Henslick. Rigby rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, while Henslick picked up 139 receiving yards and a touchdown. Rigby was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards.
Claremore has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 9-1-1 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Nathan Hale and 2-8 Edison (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 44.2% over those games). As for Collinsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-2.
Claremore will be playing at home against Sapulpa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sapulpa is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Collinsville, they will head out on the road to face off against Coweta at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oklahoma (Coweta is ranked 34th, while Collinsville is ranked 38th).
