Baseball Recap: Fleming County Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

Fleming County hadn't done well against Greenup County recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Musketeers with a sharp 13-1 victory. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Austin Robertson and Preston Cropper made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Robertson pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Cropper tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Robertson has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Robertson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, while Cropper went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI Cropper has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Thadd Applegate, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Trevor Plank also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Fleming County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.

Fleming County has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Greenup County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-13.
