The Coronado Dons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They fell 40-28 to Goldwater. Coronado has not had much luck with Goldwater recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Coronado still got an impressive performance from Ariel Douglas, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 22 rebounds. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her.
Even though they lost, Coronado were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Coronado bumped their record down to 2-5 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Goldwater, their win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coronado will face off against St. Mary's at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully St. Mary's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Wednesday. As for Goldwater, they will head out on the road to face off against Estrella Foothills at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Estrella Foothills is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
