The San Juan Broncos suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They were outmatched by North Summit on the road and fell 66-32. While losing is never fun, San Juan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while North Summit is ranked tenth).
San Juan lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Synessa Atcitty, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Khimya Fullwood, who scored seven points.
It was another big night for Hartlynn Richins, who scored 21 points for North Summit. Richins is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayzlyn Murdock, who scored 15 points.
San Juan bumped their record down to 3-10 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for North Summit, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Juan will take on Whitehorse at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Whitehorse will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for North Summit, they will head out on the road to face off against North Sevier at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Sevier has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
