Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Central Catholic walked away with it. They blew past the Waite Indians 19-1 on Thursday. The Fighting Irish might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Ella Schuberg and Maeley Bragg made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Schuberg struck out 12 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Bragg tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Schuberg has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Schuberg went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Bragg went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most doubles Schuberg has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Addison Brinkman was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with six stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Mackenzie Coleman was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two triples, and one stolen base.

Central Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win (which was Central Catholic's eighth in a row) raised their record to 16-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Waite, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-7 record.

Looking ahead, Central Catholic will venture away from home to face off against Lumen Christi Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Titans will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Fighting Irish surely won't give up without a fight. Waite does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
