It was a good run, but the Concord Christian Academy Minutemen unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 51-44 to Faith Baptist School. Concord Christian Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Faith Baptist School apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Concord Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Carlin Hollis - Homeschool dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 52.3% of Concord Christian Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Gabriel Franco was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Concord Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Faith Baptist School only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Faith Baptist School found their leader in underclassman Eli Miller, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Yates, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Concord Christian Academy's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2. As for Faith Baptist School, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Concord Christian Academy will face off against Faith Baptist School at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Faith Baptist School, they will head out on the road to square off against Holly Grove Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Holly Grove Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 300th, while Faith Baptist School is ranked 30th).
