The El Primero Lobos will head out on the road to face off against the Del Mar Dons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
El Primero can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Wednesday. They never let Summit Shasta onto the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what El Primero needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.
They hit Summit Shasta with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from
Angel Torres (2),
Eddie Toris (2),
Omar Guillen, and
Juan Gamez.
Meanwhile, Del Mar has not lost a match since January 18th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Yerba Buena 1-0. Given Del Mar's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 311th, while Yerba Buena is ranked 868th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
El Primero has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7-1 record this season. As for Del Mar, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3-4.
El Primero might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Del Mar in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can El Primero avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
