Kokomo blew past Lafayette Jefferson 70-35 at home. Given Kokomo's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Lafayette Jefferson is ranked 332nd), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Aijia Elliott, who scored 29 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Kokomo's points. Another player making a difference was Satyra Scott, who scored 13 points.
Lafayette Jefferson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Da'Niyah Johnson, who scored 10 points. The matchup was Johnson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amani Byrd, who scored 11 points.
Lafayette Jefferson struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Kokomo racked up 21.
Kokomo's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Lafayette Jefferson, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Kokomo's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Western at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th. Lafayette Jefferson will be staying on the road on December 7th to face off against Clinton Prairie at 7:30 p.m. on December 7th.
