Basketball Recap: Mallory Sprissler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ballston Spa over Shenendehowa

Ballston Spa lost against Shenendehowa back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Ballston Spa Scotties took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shenendehowa Plainsmen. While losing is never fun, the Scotties can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Plainsmen are ranked 25th).

Ballston Spa's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mallory Sprissler, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Those 15 points gave Sprissler a new career-high. Aubrey Kramer was another key player, going 6 of 15 on her way to 14 points and five boards.

Ballston Spa has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season. As for Shenendehowa, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ballston Spa and Schalmont will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. As for Shenendehowa, they will welcome Bethlehem Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bethlehem Central will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Shenendehowa surely won't give up without a fight.
