The Massac County Patriots will head out on the road to take on the Herrin Tigers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Massac County's and the Bombers' match on Saturday was close at halftime, but the Patriots turned on the heat in the second half with 47 points. Massac County put the hurt on the Bombers with a sharp 85-64 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Isaac Hosman was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 33 points and ten assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Will Harmon was another key contributor, scoring 24 points.
Meanwhile, Herrin came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past Murphysboro 35-32. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Herrin has scored all year.
Massac County has been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. As for Herrin, their victory bumped their record up to 19-6.
Massac County came up short against the Tigers in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 56-51. Can Massac County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
