The third road game was the charm for The Loyola Blakefield Dons, as they earned their first road win of the season. They came out on top against Gilman by a score of 32-21 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Loyola Blakefield also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Kendrick Worthington was a one-man wrecking crew for Loyola Blakefield as he rushed for 250 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry.
Another reason for the win was Loyola Blakefield's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Gilman's QB won't forget Trevor Szymanski anytime soon given Szymanski sacked him six times.
Despite the loss, Gilman still got an impressive performance from Dejuan Lane, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown. Lane's longest rush was for an incredible 85 yards. Yasir Supreme got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Loyola Blakefield has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Gilman, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
Loyola Blakefield will look to defend their home field on Friday against Archbishop Spalding at 6:00 p.m. Archbishop Spalding will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Gilman will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on McDonogh at 2:00 p.m. on November 4th. McDonogh presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Gilman in Maryland (McDonogh is ranked eighth, while Gilman is ranked 42nd).
