The North Salinas Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to Gonzales. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, North Salinas saw an underclassman step up: Andre Lizaola scored 15 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Lizaola scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Logan Bayhonan, who scored six points.
North Salinas has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Gonzales, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.
North Salinas won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pajaro Valley at 11:00 a.m. on December 29th. Pajaro Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Gonzales, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Soledad at 12:00 p.m.
