The Bristol Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Sunday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 81-68 to New Hope Academy. While losing is never fun, Bristol can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 456th in Pennsylvania, while New Hope Academy is ranked 123rd in Maryland).
New Hope Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was DJ Thomas out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jalen Martinez, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds.
Bristol now has a losing record at 6-7. As for New Hope Academy, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bristol will take on MAST Community Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. MAST Community Charter is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for New Hope Academy, New Hope Academy and Fairfax Christian will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Fairfax Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matchups -- so hopefully New Hope Academy likes a good challenge.
