El Dorado and Sunny Hills are an even 3-3-1 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Golden Hawks will be playing at home against the Lancers at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games El Dorado has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
El Dorado took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They never let Sonora get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Golden Hawks have posted since February 23, 2024.
Not much got past Emily Yoon, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Sonora off the board. Yoon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, El Dorado's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jessica Cherms, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Sunny Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Sonora. Lancers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Raiders since on Tuesday.
Alexis Perez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.
Sunny Hills' loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for El Dorado, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. El Dorado has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Sunny Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went El Dorado's way against Sunny Hills in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as El Dorado made off with a 9-1 win. Will the Golden Hawks repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
