The Valley Christian Trojans can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Scottsdale Christian Academy 58-28 on the road. Given Valley Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Scottsdale Christian Academy is ranked 232nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Valley Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ellie Phillips, who scored 16 points. Phillips is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Gracie Miraglia, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Valley Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. As for Scottsdale Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valley Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Gilbert Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 13th. Gilbert Christian and Valley Christian are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. As for Scottsdale Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Bourgade Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
