Baseball Recap: Aucilla Christian Has No Trouble Against Rutherford

After only one run in their last contest, Aucilla Christian made sure to put some runs up on the board against Rutherford on Monday. The Aucilla Christian Warriors' pitchers stepped up to hand the Rutherford Rams a 17-0 shutout. The game marked the Warriors' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Cooper Wiles was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over 4.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Aucilla Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Aucilla Christian got a massive performance out of Dalton Demott, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, Demott posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaw Lundy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Aucilla Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Aucilla Christian now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Rutherford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Coincidentally, Aucilla Christian and Rutherford will both be playing Franklin County the next time they take the field. Aucilla Christian will head out to face Franklin County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Rutherford will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
