Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Sycamore

Sycamore had won two straight games and Brooke Burgess did her part to make it three on Monday. The Sycamore Aviators took their contest with ease, bagging an 83-56 victory over the Gateway Panthers thanks in part to Burgess, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten boards. The game was her third in a row with at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Tiffany Reyes, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 19 points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Despite the loss, Gateway had strong showings from Alyssa Marino, who went 7 of 15 en route to 22 points along with six assists and six boards, and Ashlynn Day, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Day is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Evana Rivera was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Sycamore's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Gateway, they moved to 11-3 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Sycamore didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-30 victory against Middletown on the 3rd. As for Gateway, they will venture away from home to take on Hagerty at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. Gateway is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.6 points per game this season.
