Basketball Recap: Teague Takes a Loss

Teague easily dispatched Groesbeck last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Teague Lions fell just short of the Liberty Panthers by a score of 39-37 on Saturday. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Bryana Pantallion continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Liberty, putting up 25 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Pantallion a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaclyn Haley, who posted eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Teague's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Liberty, they pushed their record up to 12-9 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Teague will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Mexia at 6:15 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Liberty, they will head out on the road to face off against Cleveland at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty is facing Cleveland at the right time seeing as Cleveland is stuck on a 20-game losing streak.
