Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask MacDonald). They blew past the Monta Vista Matadors 24-8 on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Condor as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.
Ileyah Sanchez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kyleena Stone was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April. Maddie Pabilona was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
MacDonald was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
MacDonald's record is now 6-11. As for Monta Vista, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.
