The Marion County Red Raiders had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They came out on top against Red Bay by a score of 57-47. This was payback for Marion County, who suffered a 59-57 loss the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marion County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joe Aldridge, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Aldridge has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Vondrell Swanigan, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Marion County is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for Red Bay, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-5.
Marion County and Hackleburg will face off at 11:00 a.m. on January 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hackleburg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 397th, while Marion County is ranked 104th). As for Red Bay, they will be playing at home against Belmont at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
