This season hasn't been kind to The Nogales Apaches, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They were dealt a 42-0 loss at the hands of Flowing Wells on Friday. Nogales was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Flowing Wells apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Josyah Monarrez was on fire for Flowing Wells: he rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 55 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Simmons, who rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Nogales' defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 3.3 points per game. As for Flowing Wells, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-7.
Nogales will square off against Tucson High Magnet School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tucson High Magnet School will be hoping to continue their five-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. As for Flowing Wells, they will be playing at home against Maricopa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Maricopa is ranked 123rd, while Flowing Wells is ranked 145th).
