Fairmont Senior is 2-8 against Frankfort since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Polar Bears will host the Falcons at 10:00 a.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Fairmont Senior sitting on six straight victories and Frankfort on three.
While Fairmont Senior's win against Grafton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Polar Bears sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Bearcats on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Polar Bears have posted against the Bearcats since March 25, 2017.
Matt Masters made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Masters was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Masters wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cam Peschl, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Frankfort got themselves on the board against Keyser on Thursday, but Keyser never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Golden Tornado. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Jacob Nething and Lanson Orndorf did most of the damage at the plate: Nething went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Orndorf went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits Orndorf has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Peyton Durst, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.
Frankfort always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Keyser only posted an OBP of .286.
Fairmont Senior pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Frankfort, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.
