Having just played yesterday, the Holy Cross Cougars will get right back to it and host the Butler Bears at 7:30 p.m. on December 13th. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Holy Cross comes in on five and Butler on three.
Even though Beth Haven scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, Holy Cross still came out on top. Holy Cross secured a 63-58 W over Beth Haven. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Holy Cross has scored all year.
Jacob Hand continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 29 points along with nine rebounds. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Loftis, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Butler was able to grind out a solid win over Warren Central on Saturday, taking the game 59-47. Given Butler's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Warren Central is ranked 250th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Holy Cross' victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Butler, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Holy Cross lost to Butler at home by a decisive 57-41 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2018. Can Holy Cross avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
