The Desert Christian Academy Conquerors waltzed into their match on Thursday with five straight wins but they left with six. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat California Military Institute 74-36 at home. Given Desert Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 639th, while the Rough Riders are ranked 1342nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Desert Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Augustine Youssef, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Youssef hasn't dropped below 15 points for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Reynolds, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Desert Christian Academy's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points per game. As for California Military Institute, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
