The Eastlake Wolves are taking a road trip to challenge the Redmond Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastlake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Eastlake got the win against Hazen by a conclusive 11-4.
Erin Ruthven was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
In other batting news, Heather Lloyd was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Jordan Cady also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Redmond narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Woodinville 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Like Eastlake, Redmond also got a great game from a two-way player: Addy Ruess. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Ruess was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, Charlotte Jones was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles. Kati Cygan was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.
Redmond was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodinville only posted a batting average of .250.
Eastlake's record is now 6-8. As for Redmond, their record now sits at 14-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Eastlake hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Redmond struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Eastlake couldn't quite get it done against Redmond in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 as they fell 8-5. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
