Softball Recap: Model Has No Trouble Against Williamsburg

Model's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets with a sharp 15-2 win. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by nine runs or more this season.

Kendall Maggard made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two triples, and one stolen base. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aliyah Wever, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Jalyne Southworth was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Model's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Williamsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 4-19.

Looking ahead, Model will host Lee County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Williamsburg, they are taking a road trip to take on Walton-Verona at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
