The Cedaredge Bruins will venture away from home to square off against the North Fork Miners at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Cedaredge's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Grand Valley 15-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bruins.
Brady Cooper made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Cooper was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carson Rupp, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Rylan Brooks was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Cedaredge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, North Fork gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Rangely with a sharp 14-4 win. The Miners' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like Cedaredge, North Fork also got a great game from a two-way player: Mario Gama. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Gama has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Payson Pene was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was B Cotten, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-6.
North Fork now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Cedaredge, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cedaredge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like North Fork struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cedaredge skirted past North Fork 9-7 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Does Cedaredge have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Fork turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
