The Chatham Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Rensselaer Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Chatham is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Chatham came up short against Coxsackie-Athens and fell 46-38. While losing is never fun, Chatham can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 545th, while Coxsackie-Athens is ranked 156th).
Meanwhile, Rensselaer's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 56-39 to Voorheesville.
Chatham dropped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.0 points per game. As for Rensselaer, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.
Chatham was taken down by Rensselaer 55-27 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Chatham avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
