The Uintah Utes will challenge the Timpanogos Timberwolves at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Uintah is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Uintah lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Orem, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. The Utes never let the Tigers get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Tuesday. Considering the Utes have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Abbie Davis, who gave up just three hits to keep Orem off the board.
At the plate, Kynlee Bristol was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Sophia Pope was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Uintah lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orem didn't launched any home runs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Timpanogos, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against Mountain View by a score of 11-8 on Tuesday.
The team relied heavily on Kaydance Pope, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kaleah Sao, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
Uintah pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Timpanogos, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Uintah has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. However, it's not like Timpanogos struggles in that department as they've averaged .484. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Uintah was able to grind out a solid win over Timpanogos when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 6-2. Will the Utes repeat their success, or do the Timberwolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
