After having lost a blowout in their previous game against East Duplin, the Richlands Wildcats were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against Swansboro by a score of 44-32. For Richlands, this counts as revenge for the 50-25 loss Swansboro walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Leading Richlands to victory were Jordyn Fisher and Mia Wells. Fisher scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Wells dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wells has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lenayah Jackson, who scored five points along with eight rebounds.
Swansboro's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kendall Hackworth, who scored ten points along with seven steals and five rebounds, and Addison King who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two steals. King has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Jass, who scored two points along with six steals.
Richlands has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Swansboro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
Richlands will look to defend their home court on Friday against Dixon at 6:30 p.m. Dixon is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for Swansboro, they will head out on the road to square off against East Duplin at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. East Duplin is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.
