Suwannee came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Yulee Hornets as they made off with a 7-0 win. Considering the Bulldogs have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kyler Watson made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Noah Lopez was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He has become a key player for Suwannee: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Koy Frier, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Suwannee hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Yulee struck out ten times.
Suwannee's record is now 8-5. As for Yulee, they dropped their record down to 6-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Suwannee and Yulee could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Suwannee will challenge Bishop Snyder at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday down 73 places (89 vs. 16). Meanwhile, Yulee (ranked 466th) will meet McMinn Central (ranked 56th) at 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
