Carrollwood Day is 1-9 against Berkeley Prep since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Carrollwood Day is taking a road trip to take on Berkeley Prep at 6:30 p.m. Carrollwood Day's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Berkeley Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Tuesday, Carrollwood Day beat Cambridge Christian 6-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.
Gabe Troya tossed a big game, pitching 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Carrollwood Day let Julian Earle and Allen Soriano run wild. Earle scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Soriano scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave Soriano a new career-high. Ashton Brown also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Berkeley Prep ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over Northside Christian.
Jett Walters made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Walters was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Josh Herrmann was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Riley Zinober, who scored four runs.
Berkeley Prep is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. Carrollwood Day pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Carrollwood Day has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Berkeley Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Carrollwood Day might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Berkeley Prep in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Carrollwood Day avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
