The Independent Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 52-38 fall against Crossings Christian. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Independent has scored all season.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaylen Phillips-Grey, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Luke Henderson, who scored eight points along with two steals and two blocks.
Independent's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Crossings Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Independent won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Glenpool at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Glenpool will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 235th in Oklahoma, while Independent is ranked 93rd in Kansas). Crossings Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Jenks at 8:30 p.m. on January 19th. Jenks is on a five-game streak of home wins, Crossings Christian a nine-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
