The Cotulla Cowboys's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Lytle, falling 63-32. Cotulla has not had much luck with Lytle recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
It was another big night for Calyssa Sevier, who almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, nine rebounds, and 14 steals for Lytle. That makes it 25 consecutive games in which Sevier has scored at least 25% of Lytle's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zabella Garza, who scored six points along with nine steals and eight rebounds.
Cotulla's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Lytle, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
Cotulla will head out on the road to face off against Natalia at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Natalia has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 9. As for Lytle, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Dilley at 6:15 p.m. Dilley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
