The Leyton Warriors pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Kimball at home by a decisive 72-56 margin. Leyton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Kimball apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Despite the loss, Leyton still got an impressive performance from Jonathan Kruse, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 15 rebounds. Trenton Rushman was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 8 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Leyton were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kimball only racked up 23.
Kimball's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kyler Lusche led the charge by scoring 22 points along with 8 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Paxton, who scored 18 points along with 9 rebounds.
Leyton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Kimball, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Leyton will head out on the road to face off against Morrill at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Morrill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday. As for Kimball, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Garden County.
