Brennan has won five straight games at home, while O'Connor has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Bears will welcome the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Brennan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Brennan didn't have quite enough to beat Harlan and fell 5-4.
Olivia Cardenas made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, O'Connor beat Harlan 8-3 on Friday.
Faith Mayfield spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Araceli Alonzo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Ella De Luna, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
O'Connor hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 31 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
O'Connor's victory bumped their record up to 18-4. As for Brennan, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Brennan's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Bears have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for O'Connor, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Brennan continue to outrun the ball?
Brennan suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to O'Connor in their previous meeting back in February. Will the Bears have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
