Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central Crossing). They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Whitehall-Yearling Rams on Saturday. The win was some much needed relief for the Comets as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.
Kyle Richardson and Jackson Reckner made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Richardson pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Reckner struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. At bat, Richardson went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Reckner went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Reckner is becoming a predictor of Central Crossing's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-20 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Zach Horton was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Central Crossing is 2-1 when Horton posts two or more runs, but 2-19 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
